Sri Sita Thakurani

Sri Sita Thakurani is to be worshiped just as much as Sacidevi herself, as the mother of the universe. She is the eternal wife of Sri Advaita Acharya. She was the daughter of Sri Nrishinga Baduri. She was married to Sri Advaita Acharya in Phuliya Nagara. After their wedding, Advaita Acharya went to Nadiya, to live in Shantipura. Sita Thakurani was always absorbed in vatsalya prema for Sri Gaurasundara Prabhu, and, out of parental concern used to instruct Jagannatha Mishra on how to care for the boy. Sri Krishna Dasa Kaviraja Goswami has described the birth celebration at the house of Jagannatha Mishra upon the advent of the Lord, giving special attention to the position of Sri Sita Thakurani. Advaita Acharya's wife, worshipable by all the three worlds was Sita Thakurani. Taking the Acharya's orders on her head, she had come to take a look at this new child, this jewel of jewels, and to offer him presents.

But who was Visnu-Priya devi?

Wed, January 24, 2007 - 9:53 AM

[Question:] Gurudeva, you said Visnu-priya devi is Bhu-sakti. So is she like Laxmi?

[Srila Narayana Maharaja:] No, she is like Satyabhama.

[Question:] But we hear that Navadvipa-dhama is non-different from Vraja.

[Srila Narayana Maharaja:] Yes

[Question:] How can Satyabhama be in Vraja-lila?

[Srila Narayana Maharaja:] Radhika has come as Gadadhara Pandita, and Sri Svarupa Damodara and Sri Raya Ramananda have come as Lalita and Visakha. The associates of Nrsimhadeva, Ramacandra, and all other incarnations have also come to Navadvipa, because Sacinandana Gaurahari includes all incarnations. All incarnations are within Him. So Satyabhama may also come to Navadvipa-lila and have the association of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

[Question:] Is this also true in Svetadvipa (Navadvipa in Goloka Vrndavana?* [See Endnote 3]

The appearance day of Vishnu-Priya devi dasi

Today is also the birth day of Visnu-Priya devi – the wife –the power-the energy-of Sri Caitanya Mhaprabhu. She is one of the manifestations of Srimati Radhika, She is specially a manifestation of Satyabhama, and she is Bhagvan’s Bhu sakti. “ She had great love and affection for Sacinadana Gaurahari., and she was married to Him for many years; but Mahaprabhu was always absorbed in Radha’s mood, calling out, Ha Krsna Ha Krsna,’ and He had no time to talk with her. Though they were in one family, in one house, He was always absorbed in the ecstasies of Srimati Radhika, sometimes falling down and rolling on the earth, sometimes crying, and sometimes singing loudly like a mad person.

The Glories of Srimati Gangamata Gosvamini

Tridandisvami Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja Murwillumbah, Australia, January 14, 2000

There was a beautiful girl in East Bengal named Saci devi, and she was the daughter of the King of Putiya. From the beginning of her life she heard about Lord Krsna, and from that time she gave her whole heart to Him. From the time she was about five years old, she used to worship Krsna, sing to Krsna, play with Krsna, and do everything with Him. When she was about sixteen years old she became maddened for Him.

Saci devi was not only beautiful, but she was very intelligent and she used to study Sanskrit and Bengali. Her father and mother were very worried for her marriage, but she totally refused. She told her father, "My marriage has already been done. There is no need of another marriage. Don't be worried. I will go to Vrndavana and I will meet my beloved there."

Taking care of our children: a burden or blessing ?

Recently, while I was at one of the wonderful festivals of Srila Gurudeva and the devotees, I became inspired to write something about those who need special care from us all: our children. After all, they are the future of this movement.

Once I heard that the mother is the child's first guru. This means that raising a child is a big responsibility and that the mother has to think carefully about what is good for the child's development. This takes a lot of deep understanding and a lot of real love. It is not for our own benefit that we must be loving and caring, but for our child's. Are our actions in the child's best interests or our own?

Indeed, a mother should try to consider carefully what action most benefits her child and what she wants the child to ultimately attain. If she is clear about the goal, she will act so as to attain it.

Love And Affection

Tridandisvami Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja Odessa, Ukraine: September 22, 2002

[Respected Maharajas, Prabhus, and Didis, Dandavat pranama. Jaya Sri Sri Guru and Gauranga.

Sometimes devotees write us saying there are not enough hari-katha lectures being sent out, and sometimes other devotees write us saying there are too many lectures being sent out. Some say they cannot keep up with the lectures because they don't have enough online time to read them. For those devotees, we have a suggestion. If you download the lectures onto your hard-drive, or onto a floppy, then you will have them stored. Then you will be able to read them on a rainy day, share them with friends, and select from among them when you need them for observing holidays, preaching and giving classes, or simply for you own study.
